KGOY

KGOY

KGOY (“Kids Get Older Younger”) is an experimental video that investigates what happens if a young naïve mind gets unsupervised access to the internet. It is a satirical PSA designed to induce awareness to both children and parents to the effects of online social media platforms. Overusing the internet at such a young age causes children to be exposed to violence or unattainable beauty standards. On social media, one’s self-worth can be determined by the number of likes and followers they have. This along with the media consumed through social media may destabilize the innocence of a young mind.

Through the use of familiar fonts such as SF UI Pro, which is the font used by iOS devices, and the incorporation of a “post” similar to the ones found on social media, the short video feels very modern. To contrast with this modern look, the video runs at 15 frames per second and has a grain texture layered over it.

The project was showcased at Strata’s exhibition in April 2023.
